Mothers.......

First of all I would like to thank my mother for having me. :-)

The kits arrived yesterday! Unfortunately the Thrill Seeker kit is out of stock. Turns out that the kits are limited stock until the end of June, but that's fine because I have big plans to continue along the same lines as well as make plenty of my own.

I spent today doing the final touches to the Tudor Album which I started yesterday. There have been some modifications to the example provided in the kit where I incorporated the ideas from the double spread layout into the album. I've had some favourite baby photos with my mum that I have been wanting to do something creative with. So now I have! I am very happy with how the Mother mini album turned out and I think mum will be too.

Now which one will I do next....?

Exciting times!

As if I wasn't excited enough by the thought that my kits will be arriving any day now and I can get started making up samples to show my prospective customers, I got a nice surprise in the mail today from Kaisercraft. The first of their quarterly magazines arrived, full of gorgeous full colour pages of all their stock, along with new projects and ideas. Even my 5 year old son was impressed, insisting I make absolutely every project in it and use all his favourite papers. Talk about inspired, wow! I have even more ideas now about upcoming kits which is great!

Got to start somewhere.....

OK, my first blog post ever. I thought I should get started so here goes....

If you read About Me, you would know that 'my thing' is Beyond-The-Page (BTP) - (also called Off-The-Page) scrapbooking. Basically, I love it! If you've never heard of it, or may have never considered doing it, please read on.

Beyond-The-Page means simply that. Basically, your scrapbooking is done on something other than an album page. It could be on anything really, but I choose to do it on craftwood (MDF) mainly. It makes your scrapbooking more than just something visual in an album. You can touch it, display it as a talking piece in your home, or maybe give it as a gift.

I am in the process of setting up an online store to sell my BTP kits. I wanted to have somewhere to promote BTP scrapbooking online and also have a place for people to be able to view available kits, and to give feedback and their own suggestions for future kits. I would love to see BTP become as popular in Australia as traditional scrapbooking. No reason why it can't be!

Now I realise that there are 100's of scrapbooking sites and blogs already so I'm not going to reinvent the wheel and make another one. The focus here is Beyond-The-Page. And for all you die hard traditional scrappers, no-one is saying to stop doing what you love. Just asking you to give BTP a chance too, you may be surprised.

Pictures speak much louder than words, so take a look at the slideshow 'Scrapbooking Kits - Available soon' (top right) to get an idea of how great BTP projects look. These 5 kits also have enough supplies to make one co-ordinating double spread traditional scrapbooking layout. If you would like to know more about pre-ordering any of these kits (AUD $30.00 + postage) please email: showinoffscrapbooking@gmail.com.

These kits (and future ones) are extremely easy to use. Even if you have no experience or scrapbooking supplies, you can simply purchase the kits, a craft knife and craft glue (also available from Showin' Off Scrapbooking) and you're all set to produce a beautiful BTP project using your own photos. All kits come with step by step instructions so you don't even need imagination, although it's great if you can add your own special touch!

And the other great thing (maybe the best part) is that all the kits can be completed in hours! Yes, I said hours! Not days, weeks, months ...... years!

Thanks so much for taking the time to read about the birth of Showin' Off Scrapbooking. While there is not much here yet, there will be in the coming days/weeks. I'm eagerly awaiting my first order from my supplier.

Must not forget to acknowledge Kaisercraft (right click to open link in a new page) as without their wonderful products, this idea would never have gotten off the ground.

Cheers,
Sam
